 Jane has been working in and around the New Zealand screen industry since 1998. She has a background in journalism and scriptwriting and wrote her master's thesis on Italian Horror, which made her effectively unemployable. Two years taking scriptwriting at
Auckland
University did little for her career prospects, but after identifying a lack of writer based services in the NZ screen industry she established Scriptease in 2000. She now works as an agent, scriptwriter and script developer. She has
written or co-written five shorts including two funded through the NZFC, Trust
Me (2000) which screened at the Berlin Film Festival (among others), and Hatto
(in production). She has written or co-written a number of features which are in development. She has also developed, consulted on, or assessed hundreds of
shorts and features, and has lectured on film theory, given seminars on
scriptwriting, and written articles for various film magazines. She
consequently has a practical understanding of writers concerns, as well as a
professional knowledge of the industry.
